Postcard with a sepia panorama of Périgueux, prefecture of the Dordogne in the French Périgord, numbered 121. The view shows an overview of the town from the south, with in the foreground a stone arch bridge over the river Isle and in the background the domes and tower of the Cathédrale Saint-Front. The card is unused and blank, with a simple French "Carte Postale / Adresse" format on the reverse.
The Cathédrale Saint-Front is one of the most distinctive religious buildings in south-west France, with its five Byzantine domes dominating the town's skyline. The church dates in its current form largely from the nineteenth-century restoration by Paul Abadie, who also designed the Sacré-Cœur in Paris. Périgueux is also a stopping point on the Via Turonensis, one of the French pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela. The arch bridge in the foreground is the Pont des Barris, one of the oldest bridges in the town.
