Toys

Toys are among the most immediate witnesses to the material culture of childhood in the past. The collection includes wooden, tin, and ceramic objects from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries: dolls, figures, games, and educational playthings from European production centres. Many of these pieces were made with a craft and seriousness that blurs the line between toy and object of use.
