Copper and Bronze

Copper and bronze are among the oldest metals in European applied and decorative arts. Jugs, mortars, candlesticks, dishes, and devotional figures in these alloys were produced for centuries by specialist craftsmen, from Flemish coppersmiths to Italian bronze founders. The patina that forms over the years is not wear but sediment: a legible history of touch and use.
