Photography

Photography is collected here as an image with a maker, where the choice of process and paper is part of the work. The value of a photographic work lies not only in what was photographed but in the print itself: the paper, the tonality, the hand that set the exposure, and the moment the print was made. An image exists in as many versions as there are prints of it, and no two are entirely alike. The selection concerns photography as work, not the old print as historical document.
