The Collectionist

Warranty & complaints

At The Collectionist, we sell unique items—often vintage or antique. This means signs of use may be part of the character of an object and do not constitute a defect if clearly described.

Statutory warranty

The statutory warranty applies to all items we sell.

This means an item must meet what you can reasonably expect, given its nature, age, condition, and description.

Many of our items are second-hand, vintage, or antique. Signs of use, age, or patina may therefore be present. These are considered part of the object's character and do not constitute a defect, provided they are clearly described.

What is covered by warranty

– the item significantly deviates from the product description
– the item does not function as expected under normal use
– there is a hidden defect that was not previously apparent

What is not covered by warranty

– normal wear, age-related characteristics, or patina
– damage caused by improper use, installation, or maintenance
– damage occurring after delivery
– deviations clearly stated in the product description or visible in the photos

Reporting a defect

If you discover a defect, please report it as soon as possible after discovery via:

Email: hello@thecollectionist.nl

– a clear description of the issue
– photos or other relevant evidence

Solution for a valid defect

If a complaint is found to be valid, we will work with you to provide an appropriate solution.

– repair
– replacement (if possible)
– (partial) refund

As many items are unique, replacement is often not possible.

Shipping damage

Please inspect your order immediately upon receipt.

Any damage during transport must be reported within 48 hours of delivery, preferably with photos of the item and packaging.

Complaints procedure

If you have a complaint about a product or our service, please contact us via:

Email: hello@thecollectionist.nl

We aim to respond within 14 days of receiving your complaint.
