Postcard with a sepia photograph of a white house on the waterfront along the Wassenaarsche weg in The Hague, surrounded by old trees and reed-fringed banks. The caption reads: "Den Haag. Een van de mooie plekjes aan de Wassenaarsche weg" (The Hague. One of the beautiful spots along the Wassenaar road). The card is published by The Amber Production Amsterdam (nr. 177) and was sent on 26 September 1930 from a station of the Hollandsche Spoorweg Maatschappij. The reverse bears a Dutch 1½ cent stamp from the flying dove series (Veth, 1924-1934) and is addressed to Melle Joh. Hennen, Villa Via Nova in Tauquemont, Belgium. The message space contains only the date and the initial H.
Tauquemont is a hamlet near Pepinster in the province of Liège, situated in the Belgian Ardennes on the river Vesdre. The flying dove stamp of 1½ cent was in the late 1920s and early 1930s one of the most widely used stamps for domestic and cross-border correspondence in the Netherlands. The card was sent from a railway station — the postmark "Station H.S.M." points to one of the stations of the Hollandsche Spoorweg Maatschappij, most likely The Hague Centraal or The Hague HS.
