Porcelain figurine depicting Saint Joseph carrying the Christ Child, hand-painted with gilded accents. The piece is hollow and unglazed on the underside, which is characteristic of European devotional porcelain production in the period around 1900-1930. Light wear to the gilding is visible and consistent with age; no cracks or restorations have been noted.
Saint Joseph holds a lily as a symbol of purity and protection, while the Child cradles a small orb surmounted by a cross. The soft pastel colouring, restrained facial features and finely rendered drapery are typical of devotional figurines produced in large numbers at the turn of the century for domestic altars and religious interiors across Europe.
