GUP Magazine issue 028, The Conflict Issue, published in February 2011. This issue of the Amsterdam photography journal Guide to Unique Photography is devoted to conflict in the broadest possible sense, from inner struggle to armed encounter. The front and back cover form a single continuous image: a police officer in red uniform with a rifle, surrounded by a dense crowd of onlookers, children and bystanders. The magazine is in good condition.

For this issue the editors brought together work by Jen Davis (internal struggle), Arpad Kurucz (the tension between age and task), Richard Mosse (contrast in style), Raphael Dallaporta (on the chosen weapon) and Ruben Joachim Terlou (found vernacular imagery). The issue also features a preview of a new book by Antoine D'Agata and a reintroduction of Larry Clark's Tulsa from 1971, one of the most influential photography books on youth, violence and self-destruction. Further contributions come from Daria Tuminas, Andy Spyra, Raffael Waldner, Gijs Huijgen and Jorg Colberg. GUP was founded in Amsterdam in 2005 and remained for over fifteen years one of the most important international platforms for conceptual art photography. The print edition ceased in 2023 after issue 70, which places the entire backlist permanently out of print.
