Large Byzantine Mother of God icon with gold leaf and angels (hand-painted)

Large hand-painted icon of the Mother of God and Child, executed on a solid wood panel with a gold-colored metallic leaf background. The depiction follows the classical Byzantine Eleusa tradition, here enhanced with two angels flanking the scene. The panel shows visible crazing, minor paint damage, and slight edge wear, consistent with its age and material. The back is unfinished wood with traces of old labels and a metal mounting bracket.

Its 40 x 29.5 cm format makes this icon considerably larger than standard icons, giving it a strong wall presence. A characteristic work within the late 20th-century icon tradition.
