Summary
June 25, 1943. World War II. Lancaster bomber ED 988 crashes in Westbeemster, narrowly avoiding the church. How did this plane end up above Beemster on its way to Germany? Was it an emergency landing? Did it crash and explode? ED 988 HWJ - The plane that disappeared in the night tells the story of the incredible events of and in ED 988. The reader flies along with this bomber and is part of the crew. A gripping story about the adventures of the very young crew. Also about how they met their end and what their final resting place was. Now, after 72 years, finally the whole story!
About the author
Wim J. Kooijman, born in Purmerend, but raised in the Beemster. I was born in 1948, five years after the flight of the ED 988. Yet I know everything about it. I experienced it. I was there. As a pilot I will take you on the moving, exciting, but also sometimes sad flights of the ED 988. Was it a dream? No, it is reality!
