Devotional card with a colour photographic reproduction of a gilded baroque wooden sculpture of Saint Anthony of Padua with the Christ Child, housed in the monastery church of Eggenfelden, Bavaria. The figure shows the saint in an animated, forward-leaning posture with an outstretched arm, holding the child close, crowned by a dark wooden glory. The expressive drapery and dynamic composition are characteristic of South German baroque sculpture. The photograph was taken by Zunhammer, Pfr. The reverse contains the German Antony responsory "Willst du schauen Wunderzeichen", supplemented by an antiphon and closing prayer.
This card belongs to the same series as the devotional card of the Saint Francis figure from the monastery church of Eggenfelden, also photographed by Zunhammer. The combination of baroque sculpture and liturgical text was a standard format for devotional material distributed on-site to pilgrims and visitors to the Franciscan monastery. Probable dating: 1950s or 1960s.
