An antique Delft blue wall plate made by De Porceleyne Fles (Royal Delft) in 1911, confirmed by the year code AG to the right of the factory mark on the reverse. The scene depicts a Dutch winter landscape with windmills on the water, painted in soft blue tones with a calm, balanced composition. The mills are rendered with restraint and precision, with particular attention to space, sky and reflection. The glaze shows a fine and even craquelure, consistent with the age and material of the piece. The plate is fitted with a metal hanging system on the reverse.
The reverse bears a period paper label reading "Por. Fles / 1896 / A. Guerain". The name A. Guerain is known in the context of Royal Delft, but cannot be confirmed as the painter of this specific plate, as the initials to the left of the factory mark are not legible with certainty on this piece. The date 1896 on the label is incorrect: the collector appears to have linked the code AG to the name A. Guerain and added a personal dating, unaware that the year code appears to the right of the mark and that AG officially corresponds to 1911. The label has value as a historical document, but the information it contains should be read with reservation.
