An antique Delft blue wall plate made by De Porceleyne Fles (Royal Delft) in 1912, confirmed by the year code AH in the factory mark on the reverse. The scene depicts a sailing boat on calm water with a windmill in the distance. The composition is open and still, with a loose brushwork characteristic of this period. The glaze shows a fine and even craquelure, consistent with the age and material of the piece. The plate is fitted with a metal hanging system on the reverse.
The reverse bears, alongside the official factory mark, a period paper label reading "porceleyne fles 1912, Th. van Arum, E. van Roggeveen". Both names are known as painters at De Porceleyne Fles. Which of the two painted this plate cannot be determined with certainty. The label points to earlier documentation within a collecting context and gives the plate a recorded history that few comparable pieces can claim.
