Essays focusing on the relationship between psychiatrist and patient.

The author of this book is a psychiatrist and publishes poems and essays under the pseudonym 'Rutger Kopland'. This book focuses on the (psychiatric) duo doctor-patient. After the preface and an introductory article, essays from two previously published booklets are included, namely: 'Het bolwerk van de betweters' (1970) and 'Een pil voor Doornroosje' (1976). This is followed by three lectures focusing on biological psychiatry. Finally, a television scenario from 1978 for the VPRO. The reader must be familiar with the field, the prevailing jargon and have a good (English) vocabulary. A number of items are dated, others are still very much alive and current. This walk through time makes the book interesting.
