Rectangular cigar tin from the Willem II Directie range, produced by N.V. Willem II Sigarenfabrieken in Valkenswaard. The exterior is fully printed with a fine gold arabesque pattern on a dark ground, with a central monogram on the lid and a decorative border along all sides. The inside of the rim carries the printed text "50 Sigaren No. 374". The inner face of the lid bears a paper label with a portrait of Willem II and the brand name in classical typography. The tin closes properly and is in good condition with light signs of use.
Willem II Sigarenfabrieken was founded in 1916 in Valkenswaard and grew into one of the largest cigar manufacturers in the Netherlands. The Directie range was the premium series of the brand, aimed at the upper market segments. Cigar tins of this type were carefully designed as part of the brand identity and have survived as autonomous objects, independent of their original contents.
