A vintage Belgian candy tin with lithographic printing, produced by Prosman Frères B.P.R.L. of Momalle, Belgium. The lid depicts a portrait of a boy surrounded by decorative acanthus scrolls, a classic advertising image intended to convey trust and quality. The side panel carries the product label "Superior Geliypear, Sirop de Poires, Sucre 40% Coloré". The tin has a lived-in patina with visible signs of use, a plain metal interior, and the original lid present.
Geliypear was a Belgian pear sweet based on pear syrup, a product common in Belgian confectionery during the first half of the twentieth century. Prosman Frères of Momalle, a small municipality in the province of Liège, was one of the regional producers who brought such sweets to market in lithographically printed tins. The boy on the lid is a classic motif of early-twentieth-century food packaging: innocence as an advertising message. The patina and lithographic work make this tin a document of the Belgian regional food industry at a moment that has left almost no other trace.
