Charming and rare Brooklax medicine tin from England, circa 1940–1950 . It concerns the well-known “British Chocolate Laxative” from Westminster Laboratories Ltd., London NW1 , imported by JH vd Bosch & Co., Amsterdam . The tablets were made of 90% chocolate and 10% phenolphthalein and were presented as a tasty solution to constipation — a remarkable example of medical marketing at the time.
The can is red with white and black lettering , with instructions for use in Dutch on the back. A wonderful collector's item for lovers of vintage pharmacy items, advertising tins, and medical curiosities.
