A rectangular biscuit tin by Bolletje, dating from the 1950s-1960s, manufactured by Verblifa. The tin has a cream ground with a red diamond pattern along the sides and a red lid featuring the Bolletje baker figure centrally placed within a diamond motif. The interior has a gold-coloured finish. The tin is in good condition for its age, with signs of use on the lid and exterior consistent with the period.
The baker figure on this tin was designed by Marten Toonder, the creator of Ollie B. Bommel and Tom Poes, who developed the Bolletje logo as part of a broader advertising concept. Bolletje was founded by Gerardus Johannes ter Beek in Almelo in 1867 and grew in the 1950s into one of the Netherlands' largest rusk producers, partly through the legendary advertising slogan "Ik wil Bolletje!" and a collaboration with advertising agency De Zuil. The tins were manufactured by Verblifa, the United Tin Factories, which was the leading supplier of packaging tin in the Netherlands during this period.
