A classic English biscuit tin from the second half of the twentieth century, finished in cream with sepia-toned depictions of historic English village scenes and churches. The tin bears no visible maker's mark, though comparable examples are attributed to English manufacturers such as Baret Ware. The gold-coloured interior is in neat vintage condition with light signs of use in keeping with its age. The lid closes well.
What sets this tin apart from an ordinary biscuit tin is the integrated moisture-absorbing system built into the lid. Inside sits a removable disc of absorbent material that could be periodically dried in a warm oven to restore its effectiveness, a technical refinement characteristic of higher-end biscuit storage of the period. Internationally, this form is known as a Biscuit Barrel, a more refined version of the traditional biscuit tin.
