A special and rare apothecary tin from "Het Anker" in Haarlem, filled with an original bakelite jar containing gauze. This type of tin was used for storing various types of sieving and bolting gauze, which were used in pharmacies and laboratories for filtering, sifting, and preparing substances.
The tin bears extensive historical inscriptions and references to Wed. ABm. Le Grand & Belain, a company that has been associated with Haarlem since 1663 and was known for the production of specialized gauze and sieving materials. The decorative typography and the mention of William III on the side give the object a strong historical character and make it an interesting collector's item within the world of apothecary and medical curiosities.
Inside, there is an original bakelite jar with a lid, featuring a stamp from Het Anker. The presence of this jar and the remaining gauze makes this example particularly complete. Such objects were intensively used in pharmacies and are therefore rarely found in this condition today.
An authentic piece of pharmaceutical history that is attractive to collectors of apothecary objects, medical instruments, and industrial curiosities, as well as for enthusiasts of historical packaging and bakelite.
