Antique Wooden Collection Box “For the Chapel” – with original key (approx. 1900–1930)
A special piece of Dutch religious heritage: a completely original wooden collection box, as it used to be found in chapels, monasteries, and small village churches. The hand-painted text “VOOR DE KAPEL” (FOR THE CHAPEL) and the characteristic slot for coins reveal its authentic use: contributions for maintenance, candles, and masses.
The box is expertly crafted from solid oak, with a classic hinge and a beautiful old key that still functions perfectly. The whole piece has the warm patina of early 20th-century church furniture, honest, well-used, and without modern restoration work.
An ideal object for collectors of devotionalia, antique religious woodwork, or as a symbolic item in an interior with character. Also popular as a decorative piece in cafes, restaurants, and movie theaters.
