In 1860, a refined (and delicious) pastry was invented in Sassello, a tiny village in the Meridian Apennines: Amaretti. The traditional bakery still exists. This typical Italian crispy snack has won many awards worldwide. Other bakeries also make it, but the original comes from Sassello.
