A round tin issued to mark the 125th anniversary of Albert Heijn (1887-2012), made in the Netherlands. The exterior is finished in green with nostalgic illustrations of a classic grocery interior and delivery scenes, centred on the inscription "Albert Heijn" with the notation Anno 1887, referencing the founding in Oostzaan. The interior is gold-coloured with a decorative relief pattern. The lid closes well and is fitted with a gold-coloured knob. In good condition with light signs of use on the rim and interior, no significant dents visible.
Albert Heijn regularly issued retro-style tins for significant anniversaries, a tradition going back to the 1960s. This 2012 edition deliberately draws on that nostalgia: the illustrations evoke the delivery model and grocer's atmosphere of the early twentieth century, an image the brand has long associated with itself. For collectors of Dutch retail history, it is a recognisable and well-documented piece.
