This unique square storage tin is a beautiful example of Dutch craftsmanship from the 1930s. Manufactured by the renowned Verblifa (United Tin Factory) , this tin was originally produced for the English market, as evidenced by the rare marking on the underside: "Container made in Holland."
The tin offers an atmospheric tribute to classical painting. Each side features a reproduction of a masterpiece, framed by ornate Baroque ornaments in relief on a gold-colored background:
• Frans Hals: The Lute Player.
• Anthony van Dyck: Portrait of a Child.
• Pieter de Hooch: Well-known scenes with perspective views.
The design is unique thanks to the raised, pressed-in lid with rolled edges, the decorative knob, and the four punched-out feet on the bottom. This tin is not only a practical storage item but also a historical decorative piece that bridges the gap between art and mass production from the pre-war period.
Features:
• Manufacturer: Verblifa (United Tinplate Factories), Netherlands.
• Dating: 1935 - 1939.
• Style: Vintage with baroque relief elements.
• Condition: In original vintage condition with a beautiful lived-in patina, light wear and traces of use commensurate with its age of almost 90 years.
A sought-after collector's item for lovers of tin and classical art.
