Antique Dutch Tobacco Tin FAAM – Louis Dobbelmann Rotterdam – ca. 1910–1920
Authentic Dutch tobacco tin from the FAAM brand, issued by Louis Dobbelmann in Rotterdam. This rectangular tin was used for light, fragrant tobacco and bears the characteristic Rood Merk design, executed in a vibrant red-cream color scheme.
The tin is richly decorated with typography and logos typical of early 20th-century Dutch commercial printing. The side panels depict a smoking gentleman, a classic marketing motif from this period. The combination of graphics, typography, and patina makes this object not only collectible but also exceptionally suitable as a decorative object in an interior or display case.
The wear, discoloration, and signs of use are consistent with age and use and contribute to the tin's authenticity and appearance. The hinged lid functions well. The interior is unlined, as is typical for this type of tobacco tin.
A beautiful example of Dutch industrial and graphic history, dating from Rotterdam's heyday as a trading city.
