Hand-painted Byzantine icon of the Mother of God Eleusa (“Our Lady of Tenderness”), from a workshop on Mount Athos.
The icon is made using the traditional method: watercolor and egg tempera on linen, applied to a solid wood panel with a gold leaf background.
The image depicts the Mother of God resting her cheek against Christ’s—an iconic gesture expressing caressing tenderness and a deep divine connection.
The reverse side contains the original certificate of authenticity, including the stamp and the notation that the icon was made in the style of the Macedonian School and could be freely exported according to Greek archaeological law.
