A dignified portrait of a man with an imposing moustache and bow tie, photographed in the famous studio of J. Langhans in Prague .
The soft lighting and subdued background typify Langhans' signature style: understated elegance combined with technical perfection.
As an Imperial-Royal Court Photographer ( Ku-K Hof Photograph), Langhans portrayed the bourgeoisie, artists and officials of the then Austro-Hungarian Empire.

The back of the card is richly decorated with its characteristic green print full of medals and awards — a true work of art in itself.

Technique: Albumen photo on cardboard ( cabinet card )
Dimensions: approx. 16.5 × 10.8 cm
Condition: Good; light signs of age, small stains commensurate with age
Origin: Prague, Czech Republic

The Langhans company was founded in 1870 and grew into one of the most prestigious photographic studios in Central Europe, with offices in Prague , Marienbad and Vienna .
This portrait shows not only an individual, but also the self-awareness of an era when photography was a symbol of status and progress.
