Antique Decorative Tin with Bruegel-esque Scene Illustrations

Sale price£32.00 GBP

Rectangular metal tin, adorned with colorful illustrations in the style of sixteenth-century Flemish genre scenes, inspired by the work of Pieter Bruegel the Elder. The images depict, among other things, a village meal, winter scenes with carts and figures, and bustling scenes with farmers and craftsmen.

The lid is flat with rounded corners and finished with a red lacquered edge. The hinges are original and function properly. The interior is unstained and shows visible signs of wear, consistent with its age and material. The exterior shows no structural damage. No dents or rust penetration were observed.

This type of tin is representative of decorative packaging tins from the early to mid-20th century, likely produced for use as biscuit, rusk, or tea tins. Suitable as a decorative object, collector's item, or functional storage solution.
