Maria Genova is a journalist and writer born in Bulgaria. The Ukrainian Anna is the main character in this story. She is depicted in a beautiful photo at the back of the book with her dog. Both photos of her and Maria Genova (on the back cover) were taken by master photographer Kato Tan. Edd Simons designed the cover.
Maria Genova made her debut with Conserve publishers in 2007 with her novel Communism, sex and lies about the lives of ordinary people behind the Iron Curtain and won the De Looijerdebutanten Prize 2007.
