A unique vintage metal spice tin with the embossed text "Prima Zwarte Peper – Gegarandeerd Zuiver" (Prime Black Pepper – Guaranteed Pure) and "Amsterdam – Batavia" on the other side. This refers to the historical trade relationship between the Netherlands and the then Dutch East Indies (Batavia, now Jakarta), giving the tin a distinctly colonial-historical character.
The cylindrical tin features a beautifully ribbed cap and decorative edges with a triangular pattern. The simple, functional shape and the embossed, rather than printed, motif indicate early production, probably around 1910–1920 .
A fine example of early 20th-century packaging from the Dutch spice trade, rare in this condition.
