This refined duo set comprises two richly decorated porcelain plates from the renowned German house Schumann Arzberg , featuring the beloved Vieux Meissen design. The openwork or "pierced" carving along the rim is entirely hand-carved, after which the plate is painted layer by layer with colorful flowers and gold accents.
The vibrant floral motifs are typical of luxurious Bavarian porcelain art in the 20th century. The combination of openwork edges, vibrant colors, and artisanal decoration makes this set particularly suitable as wall decoration, sideboard pieces, or part of a refined table setting.
These are not mass-produced items; they are carefully crafted ornaments with a high decorative value.
The Schumann Arzberg porcelain factory produced tableware and luxurious decorative pieces between approximately 1881 and 1994. The Vieux Meissen series harks back to the Meissen tradition: floral bouquets, rich gilding, vibrant colors, and openwork borders, but in the Schumann style: slightly more airy, colorful, and floral.
The reticulated plates are among their most recognizable and beloved designs. These plates were often sold as gifts or showpieces, not as tableware.
The stamps on these plates date from ca. 1950–1970 .
